How my activities influenced my occupation and activities in adulthood:
My passion for skiing as a teenager led me making the US Ski Team, participating in the 1998 Winter Olympics, and a World Record in 2001. That career taught me the importance of incremental goal setting and team work. Later in life I used those tools to work towards and obtain a new career participating with NASA spacecraft missions.
Advice for kids looking to get involved:
Stay active both physically and mentally. Don’t focus on the “end goal”, such as winning a medal, rather focus on the steps that lead to improvements in that sport and having fun.
