Vivian Zhang – Physical Therapist


As a kid I participated in:

Cross Country, Tennis, Track and Field, Field Hockey, and Dance

As an adult I participated in:

Yoga, Pilates, and Running

How my activities influenced my occupation and activities in adulthood:

Participating in sports at a young age really helped me develop the desire and internal motivation necessary to continue living an active lifestyle as an adult. Running competeitvely in high school is the reason why I still continue to go for runs today. Having trained my body and mind to respond positively to exercise is the motivation behind why I still continue to remain active on a daily basis. This being said, my attitudes towards my health had a strong influence on the career path I chose, which was to become a physical therapist. I am happiest when I make healthy choices, and hope that as physical therapist I can help guide others in feeling this way too. It’s important and okay to put ourselves first, especially when it comes to our health and well-being. Investing our time in taking care of ourselves is essential if we want to avoid disease, decreased quality of life, injury, etc. Prevention is key, and I am especially interested in promoting this concept throughout my career.


Advice for kids looking to get involved:

My advice for kids looking to get involved would be to find an activity that they truly enjoy doing, do it often, and share the experience with someone that they are close to! Exercise is what you make of it so find a way to make it fun! Start young! Old habits are hard to break as you get older.
